Job Description

The technician will work closely with the engineering and technician teams to assist with installation projects of SPN data acquisition systems at clients’ mills.

Functions:

 Assembly of electrical systems

  • Research with suppliers of components and instrumentation
  • Preparation of bid and purchase slips
  • Workshop drawings
  • Construction, assembly, wiring and testing of the data acquisition system
  • Calibration of signal isolator modules

Installation and Commissioning

  • Preparation of installation drawings
  • Configuration of the data acquisition system
  • Instrumentation installation
  • Channel calibration
  • Monitoring and supervision of the factory installation at customers’ sites

Technical Assistance, Repairs and Maintenance

  • Software installation and update
  • Diagnosis of data acquisition or communication problems
  • Repair of isolating modules and signal transmitters
  • Documentation and maintenance of equipment lists

Computer work

  • Instrumentation PC configuration
  • Data transfer and back-up management

Monitoring service

  • Data transfer monitoring
  • Signal integrity check
  • Verification of transmitters
  • First level analysis of alarms

 Qualifications:

Although experience in instrumentation, automation and control in the industrial or commercial field is an asset, it is not essential. SPN offers training to introduce the chosen candidate to the specific systems used.
